Re: Victory Gundam - beam saber = beam shield?

As I said it's not the game mechanic that I was interested but the info provided. Of course it's the slight chance that game mechanic might model it as it's supposed to be as a bonus. It wouldn't be the first time if some real(world) secret gets revealed. I didn't look at any other games since they ...

Re: Victory Gundam - beam saber = beam shield?

That's why I said semi-canon. But that's not the point why I'm looking at a game. Game developers usually have first hand info from the original designer. Based on those infos they design their game. There is always a possibility that some original information comes through in the description and/or...

Re: Victory Gundam - beam saber = beam shield?

I don't think anybody doubts the various uses of Minovski particle. Most information on the net are copies of a handful of sources, and mostly not complete or as well as the original. I don't expect to find any specific and rare information anytime soon. But I did notice that the japanese ones often...

Re: Victory Gundam - beam saber = beam shield?

Found some anime footage: http://img580.imageshack.us/img580/1531/gundamv08503.png http://img139.imageshack.us/img139/8260/gundamv08504.png How the pilot or automatic manages to grab it the right way has nothing to do with the design. Best proof would be to find footage where the shield stops just b...

Re: Victory Gundam - beam saber = beam shield?

That depends on how you look at it. From an engineering point having extra mechanics introduces more sources of error and failure. Since close combat is something that's possible the hinges have to be designed to take the full force of a blow by the fist. Normally the whole forearm casing and it's i...

Re: Victory Gundam - beam saber = beam shield?

Any design that can afford the cost of two spare sabers and all that projection equipment can afford the cost of a shield projector. Also, take a look at the shape of the Victory's sabers and tell me how that can project a hexagonal field from the angle it would have to be at inside the shield proj...

Re: Victory Gundam - beam saber = beam shield?

I don't think it's weird to design like that. This saves a beam projection system for the shield. Also shields aren't used that often either. The beam saber is used more, though, and still it's a last resort. The fact that V gundam has 4 sabers, more than most others may be an indication of this des...

Victory Gundam - beam saber = beam shield?

I don't know if this ever came up before so excuse me if that's the case. This may not be the right place for this post, too, but I think it's appropriate. I was really surprised this time when I realized the meaning of the odd design for the beam saber storage. It's not just the same place where th...

Re: Untangling the Battletech/Robotech can of Worms

I thought it isn't out yet but still the old one which does require the original CD.

Anyway, it's fun but I don't like how they change stats from version to version making my variants invalid.
