Re: Movable frame construction material?

I suggest checking this old thread which discussed the evolution of the EF's and Zeon MS construction philosophies: http://www.mechatalk.net/viewtopic.php?f=17&t=16720 In short, based on a retcon from Sunrise' Mobile Suit Museum it seems that now movable frame is essentially an evolution of Zeon MS ...

Re: Gundam Vs. Series Discussion Topic

Well, it's a mixed bag: -Western support from 3rd party developers, as well as Sony's own studios, has basically stopped. There do are exceptions, such as the Bard's Tale Remastered which was ported to PS Vita last month. -Japanese and indies studios are the ones that keep releasing games on a regul...

Re: Propellant: What is in an MS's Tank?

Mark once wrote an interesting column about UC MS power sources, which also touched the propulsion issue: https://web.archive.org/web/20160304173442/http://ultimatemark.com/gundam/power.html The relevant part: ...A similar mechanism is used for propulsion. Instead of traditional chemical rockets, mo...

Re: Gundam Vs. Series Discussion Topic

Take this with a grain of salt, but it would seem that Gundam Extreme VS Force for PS Vita might be getting a western physical release, according to Play Asia: https://www.play-asia.com/mobile-suit-gundam-extreme-vs-force/13/709luj My concern is that it seems odd for Bandai Namco to release a game i...

Re: The need for prototypes to surpass the mass-production models

Yeah, the MAHQ profile even says that the Ground GM uses the Ground Gundams parts. So how could the Ground GM come first if it uses some of the Ground Gundam's parts? Also, the Ground Gundam was made first because it used the RX-78's spare parts. There seems to be claims in both directions, but Mar...

Re: The need for prototypes to surpass the mass-production models

I want to point out that supposedly the EF's original plan wasn't to mass produce the RGM-79 (or even the RB-79), but rather to mass produce the Gundam in the form of the RX-81: Due to insufficient development time, the RX-78 entered the battlefield in the form of the mass production type RGM-79. In...

Re: The date when the Zsaa, the Dreissen, the Capule, and the Galluss first started development?

The extending arms existed ever since the original de it of the Gogg and Acguy: the former could retract its arms for its diving/swimming mode, best depicted in Robot Damashii’s new A.N.I.M.E. figure. In the case of the later, remember those scenes where Acguys extended their arms for attaching them...

Re: The date when the Zsaa, the Dreissen, the Capule, and the Galluss first started development?

I recall that Mark once pointed out that the Bawoo was the only 1st Neo Zeon MS that seemed to follow the EF's design doctrine, and was equipped with as standard beam rifle and handheld shield. It's worth pointing out that the only other MS to use that shield is none other than the AMX-018 Todesritt...

Re: The date when the Zsaa, the Dreissen, the Capule, and the Galluss first started development?

First things first: AOZ Reboot finally provides and official design for the obscure AMX-001 Gaza A: http://hobby.dengeki.com/aoz/illust/reboot12/ The AMX-003 Gaza C had be redesigned, though the AMX-003M Gaza M do seems to have kept more common traits with it. Other Axis/Neo Zeon MS that were likely...

Re: The YMS-09 and MS-09D Doms and variants

Another interesting comparison is regarding generator outputs: 1,269 kW: YMS-09 ? YMS-09D ? MS-09K-1 ? MS-09K-2 MS-09B 1,199 kW: MS-09R MS-09F 1,219 kW: YMS-09R2 MS-09R2 1,440 kW: MS-09G MS-09RS ? From the MS-09K-2 we can probably assume that the YMS-09, YMS-09D and MS-09K-1 all use the same generat...

Re: OYW ms development

The beam weapon used by the RGM-79(G) sniper that had a continuous beam, other than the barrels destruction its power was on the rather high side I can't think of another case of a weapon similar ever being fielded. Just wanted to point out that such weapon seems to require an external generator, w...

Re: The YMS-09 and MS-09D Doms and variants

Personally I would have preferred if the MS-06JK Zaku Half Cannon had been introduced instead as the infamous MS-06J-12, the anti-air MS that served as the base for the MS-06K. As already pointed out, the MS-06K has traits from other advanced MS models such as the YMS-09 and MS-14C, which make it mo...

Re: The YMS-09 and MS-09D Doms and variants

From one of Mark's threads: According to the MSV series, the second of the original prototypes was eventually converted to the YMS-09D Dom Tropical Test Type, and this machine was then tested by the Caracal Corps. As per the second MSV book, "The Caracal Corps was assigned four D type Doms, includin...

Re: OYW ms development

The RGM-79 is stated to be a rushed design, and is even considered an accident-prone machine like the EMS-10 Zudah. While this meant that the standard GM is a flawed design, it did allowed the EF to produce them in large quantities in a short amount of time. Still, the EF had plans for a proper mass...

A missions to steal a captured Zaku?

Do you mean to recapture a Zaku that had been previously captured by EF forces, or something like that?

Re: Why do the bad guys usually have more different models than the good guys?

The GMs never had learning computers, each of those are way too expensive and EFF didn't install those unless they have a core fighter to protect them. When they ditched the core fighter in the GM, they removed the learning computer. According to Gundam Century, the most expensive systems of the GM...

Re: Why do the bad guys usually have more different models than the good guys?

I've been meaning to participate in this thread, but have been somewhat busy lately and have not been able to dig through some old sources. For the time being I want to throw a few ideas. My overall impression is that Zeon MS are overall better than EF MS, but the EF's logistical muscle allows their...

Re: Best designed warship in UC

Personally I find the Musai Late Production Type one of the best ship designs in the UC: -It addressed the problem of AA defense. -It increased firepower by adding turrests that also covered some of the blind spots of the original model. -It added frontal MS catapults while increasing the hangar cap...

Re: Miscellaneous Gundam contributions

According to an interview with the author of Gundam Thunderbolt, it would seem that it is not canon (or more rather its part of its own canon, much like The Origin): "**CS**: Aside from director Tomino 1, you don’t hear many people involved with Gundam talking about “destroying Gundam.” **YO**: I’m ...
