Ideas for a Better World

-Ideas for a Better World- E xactly what it says on the tin. I'd like to hear your ideas for how we could make this planet a more decent place to live. This includes everything except politics; new infrastructure, new technology, new planning, new ways of doing things. Tell us how we can make a tom...

I'd just like to note that they seem to share the same coloration as the African Liberation Front Desert Zakus in certain shots.

"Gouf Kai" in MS Era?

Was looking through a translation of MS Era, and I noticed something interesting in a couple of the pictures. In addition to the Zaku II and Dom variants portrayed, there's also a portrayal of a Gouf variant among them: here and here . Besides that, there's also a Zakrello and Bigro , but that's sor...

Re: Less fiction and more science for Newtypes/Innovators?

That actually makes some sense. Deikun refers to people transcending the limitations imposed by their ENVIRONMENT, rather than necessarily their biology. Then again, he also mentions the awakening of the unused portion of the Human brain, so, it could be interpreted both ways. Either an evolution of...

Re: Mobile Suit Gundam: To the End (a Post-OYW Tale)

" H ere they come! Everyone look sharp!" Flint Hobten looked at the monitors which covered the walls of his Mobile Suit's cockpit, currently showing the outside world in the ghostly green tones of infrared night vision. His Suit, an old J-type Zaku II, stood as part of a guard unit around ...

Mobile Suit Gundam: To the End (a Post-OYW Tale)

Mobile Suit Gundam: To the End. Some mood music . Prologue: "Attention all Zeon officers, and soldiers. I am Prime Minister Darcia Bakarov. Supreme Commander Gihren Zabi, along with Rear Admiral Kycilia Zabi, have laid down their lives in battle. As Prime Minister of Zeon, I hereby order all e...

Re: Artificial Gravity on Warships

Just a thought, but it may not be that the shoes are magnetic. Perhaps most shoes in the UC time-line just have metal strips in the soles, and the floors THEMSELVES are slightly magnetic. It would not take a fantastically strong magnetic field to hold someone down in zero-G, either. It would explain...

F***'n mono-eyes, how do they work?

One of the most iconic aesthetic points of the entire Mobile Suit Gundam series is the mono-eye. First showcased (in the franchise) in the Zaku II, the mono-eye is as cool and sinister as it is... ...well, pointless. It is clearly shown within the series that a Mobile Suit can still operate, with un...

Re: Zeon MS compared the German aircraft.

I'd have to agree with T.V. about the Hetzer/Oggo, to be honest. However, it DOES make want to do a comparison of MS/MA to German panzers... Also, I'd have to agree that the Natter is a much better analogue to the Oggo, in terms of the fact that it was supposed to be cheap and semi-disposable, flown...

Re: Zeon MS compared the German aircraft.

Honestly, I think the EMS-10 Zudah has more in common with the Heinkel He "113" than the He 162. The "113" was really a Heinkel He 100 with a different model number, analogous to how the EMS-04 was just given cosmetic changes and a new designation to make it the EMS-10, and also ...

Zeon MS compared the German aircraft.

It's common knowledge that the Principality of Zeon in UC Gundam draws a large amount of influence from Nazi Germany during WWII. This is reflected in their uniforms, the names of some of the characters, their weapons, and of course, their Mobile Suits. Personally, I think there's some Imperial Japa...

Re: Fictional vs. Real-life: Prototypes in actual combat

There HAVE been instances of "prototypes" being fielded in actual combat, in the past, though never as dramatically as the RX-78-2 Gundam or most of its ilk. In 1936-37, Nazi Germany sent a limited number of pre-production Messerschmitt Bf 109s to its Condor Legion for use in the Spanish C...

Re: How Many Zudahs Were Built?

Well, there's a simple explanation for that. 10 sounds more impressive than 04. And, the revived Zudahs being essentially propaganda machines, that's all that counts. Also, it hides the true nature of the machines better than if they'd just called it the EMS-05. It would have been even better if the...

How Many Zudahs Were Built?

Something I've been interested to know: How many Zudah-type Mobile Suits were actually built? Now, in MS IGLOO, only five Zudahs, all of the EMS-10 type, were shown. However, was the 603rd the only Test Team to receive these units? Were there more Zudahs back at Side 3, or with other Test Teams? Wer...

Re: Hildolfr, was it practical?

Well, you forget, the Federation was probably trying just as hard to break the stalemate through unconventional means. I.E: Using stolen Zakus in false-flag tactics. Of course, the Feddies couldn't very well openly supply them, being covert forces using enemy machines, so they had to fend for themse...

Re: Hildolfr, was it practical?

My tentative guesses would be that: A: The combat "testing" of the Hildolfr, and the subsequent paperwork, were simply formalities, and were not actually reviewed by the High Command. B: The Hildolfr, while a very powerful anti-MS weapon, was not pursued due to the fact that the Federation...

Re: Hildolfr, was it practical?

Looking at the Timeline, the Hildolfr doesn't really seem to be connected to any political or military movement. It's construction began in 0072, kind of a quiet time in Mobile Suit history since true mobile suits didn't exist yet. However it features many aspects that would lead to a mobile suit b...

Hildolfr, was it practical?

I have a question about the YMT-05 Hildolfr. Why was the whole Mobile Tank concept perused at all? Don't get me wrong. I think the Hildolfr is awesome on toast, make no mistake. It's fast, it's got a big gun, and actually, it can be considered to be one of the first transformable Mobile Weapons. It'...
