This show got delayed a bit since it was not commercialy subbed & streamed. But last week the fan-subbers stepped up, and started with this TV series. Good thing too, since it would be a shame to miss this story. No real shooting or combat is at the center of its tale. It is about a bookishly succes...

Re: How can we have another long-running toy franchise?

I would say the main obstacle with a new toy franchise, is enough children and teens to purchase said toys to make it a hit. Japan's population demographics make this rather dubious from a commercial standpoint. We're talking stuff under the 20,000 yen mark here. Not just toys (which includes figure...

Re: The Last Jedi

First off I would like to salute HISHE for their Rogue One episode. Several potential "good ends" there, all of them nice...but making me appreciate the movie's ruthless nature more. Also, "S'up noobs." Amion: Revan-sama is my ultimate sensei. :) I don't want to call the Jedi Knights foolish f...

Re: The Last Jedi

he did kinda choke some of Jabba's guards because i guess that was okay or something that one time. on the other hand he also officially earned his Jedi stripes by refusing to kill his father, throwing down his saber, and telling the Emperor to go eat all of the dicks, so i'm not sure how gray a Je...

Re: The Official Gundam Iron-Blooded Orphans Anime Thread Mk IV

I was expecting her to fit into some UC or AU box, but IBO was very much about "this is our own box" so to speak for many things. I was certain Julietta was cute Gundam roadkill like poor Lafter, but she survived & actually learned something about the motive and spirit of people who are gonna climb...

Re: The Official Gundam Iron-Blooded Orphans Anime Thread Mk IV

Cybastar: Now, I don't want to give Rustal Elion too much credit for building success from the downfall of McGillis & Tekkadan. I do give him credit for realizing Gjallarhorn as presented in the course of the show was at best obsolete and at worst prone to reflexive oppression in order to keep exis...

Re: Frame Arms Girl

The show automatically won me over with the appearance of the Legendary Kotobuki Nippers and continued with Gourai's assessment of time spent assembling figures/models. 15% = finding tools 15% = researching kit on Internet 15% = finding parts on runner 50% = fighting the carpet monster 5% = assembli...

Re: Pilot curriculum

I think a lot of the "Gundam hero" criticisms are confusing ability and training, which are different things. Training and enabling the average guy to become a mecha suit pilot is good. Training and enabling the guy with exceptional ability is better! That is the baseline difference between Mecha Ac...

I stopped counting at the 35th Panty. and yes, i do count how many panty shots appear in a given episode. Evangelion TV has only 6 total. i'm gonna watch this till the end. YURI BEYBE!!! its Angelic Layer + Sky Girls. that's a good combination. i just hope this doesn't go the the super se...

Re: The Official Gundam Iron-Blooded Orphans Anime Thread Mk IV

I'm very glad to read your post, Zeonista, especially the bit on Julietta. So many hated her and desired her dead, but I was always a fan and was glad to see her survive. She even develops at the end of the story to some extent, and I was pleased with that, if nothing else. I was expecting her to f...

Re: The Official Gundam Iron-Blooded Orphans Anime Thread Mk IV

Well, IBO wins already for getting this amount of talk about its closing! Not just rants and applause, lots of talk about story & character. Excellent! :) Now for myself.... After my previous post on the certainity of doomed heroes wersus Fate and the Establishment, there were some genuine departure...

Re: The Official Gundam Thunderbolt Anime Thread Mk I

How does anyone here think of the scene between the golden-trimmed Zaku (Royal Guard?) and the GM at the beginning of the episode? I just don't understand why didn't the Zaku pilot make a conscious retreat to the nearest cover - standing right there and shooting at an enemy you know your bullet won...

Frame Arms Girl

What, no one has started a topic on this show yet? C'mon guys, it is a story about a girl and her mecha musumoid club. It's a bit of a cross between Hand Maid May , Gundam Build Fighters , and a Revoltech/Figma catalog. Not that it's a bad basis for an anime though.... Some MAHQ members should be mi...

Re: The Official Gundam Iron-Blooded Orphans Anime Thread Mk IV

Given the events of the past several episodes since McGillis Fareed made his announcement, I am reminded again that many of the seminal Japanese heroes of history & legend are beautiful losers. To wit, they fail in their earthly goals, but their accomplisments and honor redeemed in blood make them e...

Well, at least we finally get to deal with what remains of Axis. I honestly thought that was wrapped up after CCA, but apparently not. :P We old Zeeks are still kickin' it around, man! :D Dark Duel: Yeah, still waiting on that score.... THe paint job is not a lie. Re: The Official Gundam Thunderbolt Anime Thread Mk I

Watched this continuing episode last night. I haven't watched December Sky yet (bad Zeonista) so the A Baoa Qu scenes were a nice transition piece. The skipping along to the Remnant Years portion of the story was handled well. The episode made a positive impression on me. albeit for different reason...

Re: The Official Gundam Twilight AXIS Anime Thread Mk I

It's very easy for people to get caught up on Twilight Axis if they knew where to look ;) Darn tootin' it's easy. Everyone please visit Deacon's beautiful updated website and read his translations. Y'know, I was ready to call UC "done" with Unicorn, which nicely put a coda on events begun in 0079. ...

oh well um OH MY GOD LOOK SO MANY MONKEYS *flee* Yes, there is quite a lot of monkey business in IBO! :D Well, it is almost all over except the shouting & weeping among the fans. Lots of that happening already in the the threads. :P I give it 1 episode for Meaningful Farewells and a launch into act...
