Re: The Gundam SEED DESTINY Remaster Thread Mk II
In one of those pointless what-if sort of questions -- how much could have been averted if they'd only taken Lacus with them, or instead of Cagalli?? Since Athrun and Kira are so lousy at convincing each other of anything for the first 3/4 of a CE show. she's the only one Athrun ever listens to. (an...

Re: The Gundam SEED DESTINY Remaster Thread Mk II
You just didn't care enough about Shinn as anything but an angry guy who's just lost it by the end of the series. There were no more glimpses that the great guy he is at heart was still there somewhere, lost in all the rage, by the end of the finale to make you believe that there was a turnaround, ...

Re: Some Zeta Gundam Questions
Can we have the debate about precisely where and/or what 'Cheyenne' actually is? If it's a toss-up between the NORAD complex at Cheyenne Mountain, or the actual closest military facility to Cheyenne, Wyoming… (which, hey, is a traditional air training base and was named for a guy who won the Medal o...

Re: Mission Accepted- Gundam Wing Rewatch
Can I sound like the girl I am, Seraphic , and say that was lovely and give you a hug? 8) Wing is my first Gundam love, and even after falling so hard for the more messy/'realistic' pace and portrayal of 0079, I'm still really fond of GW, its respect and hope and optimism, its deconstructions of UC ...

Re: Believing a Timeline of Zeta
"...beyond the hard times from now?" 8) Sorry, Mark, just curious if we finally get official romanizations for Beecha and Iino, while you're at it? Also, what is your general sense, then, for the scope of Zeta and ZZ? While you wouldn't say they're a year apiece, certainly not something li...

Re: Zeta Define
Well, I wasn't being entirely serious. See, you need more emoticons for that. :D I guess what I could say my reaction was is that I don't feel Gundam needs to cram fanservice into their all their stuff. Yeah, except they've been doing it since the beginning, or did Mirai, Sayla, Frau, and Char all ...

Re: Zeta Define
Emma lets Kamille cry all over her, That's not right, shouldn't she be slapping him? :D Or at least an inspiring speech? Well, the point of this thread (and the manga) is "what's different from the show…" Like Emma. Without pants. Reccoa is getting 'significant adult attention' from Char,...

Re: Zeta Define
To quote my friend: "well of course, she's a girl, it's standard operating procedure to take advantage of her vulnerability by sexualizing it; do you not know how prisons work or something, sheesh" I think Fa says that they just took all her clothes to interrogate her, but obviously that w...

Re: Zeta Define
The story will all go downhill (not that it isn't already) once Haman appears and starts emoing out for Char like in CDA. Relax, Deacky, we get Beltochika showing up and doing her number over Amuro long before that. And if they try to tone her down ( à la the movies or Day After Tomorrow), th...

Re: Best way to learn Japanese?
You didn't say whether you were bound and determined to learn self-directed, so... I'm not even remotely fluent, but what I do know, I picked up at "intensive summer university course", where they covered a year of instruction in ten weeks by way of 40 hours in the classroom every week. :t...

Well, there's Bright, too. 8) And creepy young men! (Jerid and co!) But yeah, while I liked Bright and Fa running away to the AEUG with Kamille and the Mk-II, I'm not sure I can lend credence to a world where Emma Sheen apparently no longer wears pants. :? (On the other, other hand, if Z cast member...

So can we talk about this? Anyone managed to read some yet? I was pleasantly surprised by some of the changes in the first volume, like Kamille actually showing a degree more maturity and sensitivity (shocking, I know). And it may actually succeed in making me like Fa (which only an episode or two o...

There's a Richard Sharpe in Espiritu Invictus's [surprisingly absorbing] Gundam UC90 on FF.net.
Anybody know the story behind that?

notes for now: -I'm surprised nobody brought up the fact that Kira was made into a Newtype of all things, along with every other bit of glorification.. And while the decision ****ed the **** out of me, it's what led to the ending we got. -I've snarked "you have to love how SEED was 'hey let's k...

Re: Burke's First Impressions of Gundam Seed Destiny!
My best summation of Athrun up to this point is done by Depeche Mode (though I feel they do other songs that sum up a lot more of GSD/CE, too): 'Never again' is what you swore, the time before... lyrics: You had something to hide Should have hidden it, shouldn't you Now you're not satisfied With wh...

Re: Burke's First Impressions of Gundam Seed Destiny!
a few notes- while Shinn continues to run all over creation for Stella and reinforce the heartbreaking devotion of their relationship, I think his connection with Rey gets short shrift, particularly the "give her back" ep. They're basically all the other has in terms of understanding and s...

And I'm back with my review of Episodes 11 thru 15! *snip* I like the mix so far, here's hoping it continues to entertain. :) Luna's hair is what Japanese fans call "ahoge", roughly meaning "idiot hair" since it tends to be found on airheaded or ditzy characters. ....Luna's hair...

Re: Burke's First Impressions of Gundam Seed Destiny!
Welcome to Destiny. I came to it as someone who'd gotten hooked by SEED, and I watched it while it aired. I will say that the show has some of my favorite characters, music, and mecha designs in the entire Gundam universe (despite other shortfalls), and I hope you find it a similarly worthy journey....

Re: Burke's First Impressions of Gundam Seed!
"Ultimate Coordinator" doesn't mean you have any special powers. It means you turned out exactly the way someone designed you. And the psychological, social, and philosophical ramifications of being able to design people down to the last detail, not allowing them their mistakes or "fr...

Kamille Bidan - Tokyo Japan Hilda Bidan - Sheffield, United Kingdom Franklin Bidan - London, United Kingdom For those wondering... wow, Deacky, where's that from? Don't the novels have Kamille listed as "New Seat", Japan, wherever that is? It's so hard to think of Kamille as an Earthnoid;...
