Re: Watching some old school mecha anime

So this time I decided to tackle Zambot 3 and boy, was I surprised by what I got. I knew Tomino got his Kill 'em All nickname from this series, but I thought some of the cast would die in the last episode. What I got was a harrowing tale of sacrifice that had me at the edge of my seat. During the go...

Re: Watching some old school mecha anime

Okay, so I finished Ideon, and what a ride it was. On the negative side, there were WAY too many generals on the Buff Clan side. All of them are overconfident, all of them under estimate the Solo ship, and most of them die within the episode they were introduced in. I swear one of them looked like a...

Re: Darling in the FranXX

i think they did admit the whole unplanned thing a bit. it was from an ANN interview if i remember correctly. let's see how SRW will fix the series' issues. whenever it will debut. :D I got the feeling that it was made as they went along with the way the story shifted, especially in the second half...

Re: Darling in the FranXX

The first half was intriguing but the show started to lose me with the revelations about Hiro's and Zero Two's past. It only got worse with the flashback episode, the way they treated the seemingly LGBT characters, the truth about Ape and the klaxosaurs, and the out right silliness of the big space ...

Watching some old school mecha anime

And I started with Ideon. I'd heard so much about it, I felt I had to see it. I'm about half way through, and I have to say, thus far, I am not impressed. The episodes are mostly repetitive, almost at Sailor Moon levels. The Solo Ship heads either deeper into space or to some planet, they are attack...

Re: Super Dimension Cavalry Southern Cross

Okay, so I've finally seen all of Southern Cross and I'm ready to share my thoughts on it. First of all, I think you guys really over sold this show. I went expecting a 'so bad it's good' experience, but what I found was just a mediocre 80s anime. The animation wasn't very good. Even though it's the...

Votoms Viewing Order

I'm just starting to watch Votoms and I was wondering what the best watching order is? Chronological or release order? And what is the chronological order.

Re: Super Dimension Cavalry Southern Cross

Personally, I don't think Southern Cross is any good at all, either in its original form or as the Robotech Masters arc. Mospeada is a far better series, and I would also give a nod to Orguss as a solid watch, although its middle is rather repetitive. Well, Southern Cross did at least have a female...

Re: Super Dimension Cavalry Southern Cross

What I'd like to know is whether Southern Cross is worth tracking down the original subbed version. Is it a good enough show on its own, or is the Robotech version a superior story? The show's biggest problem was its offensively idiotic main character, Jeanne Francaix. She's a "strong woman&qu...

Super Dimension Cavalry Southern Cross

I first saw Southern Cross back when it aired as part of Robotech. Of course, back then I had no idea that it was a separate show that had nothing to do with the Macross universe. After seeing Delta, I've had the urge to rewatch some of the older stuff. What I'd like to know is whether Southern Cros...

Saw the first episode and didn't care much for it. There was too much disservice. I really don't Ned to see constant panty shots from toys.

Re: Fafner THE BEYOND announced

I am just now watching Exodus. I hope it turns out better than you guys say it will. And even if it doesn't, I still welcome the news. I liked the other entries in this franchise. Also, I think it is a shame that every season there are fewer and fewer mecha anime being produced. I think the up comin...

Re: The Official Gundam Iron-Blooded Orphans Anime Thread Mk

I wonder if there will be a third season for Iron Blooded Orphans. This far in, we should at least get a glimpse of what the end game scenario will be. Right now, the show is just going through the motions. I suspect the ending for this season will leave the possibility open for another one.

Re: Star Wars Rogue One

I watched the Redlettermedia review and I have not seen the movie, please let everything they said be wrong!!!! While I think better of the film than they did, they are right for the most part. People have a better opinion of the movie simply because of the Star Wars name, if it were called somethi...

Re: The Official Gundam Iron-Blooded Orphans Anime Thread Mk

I know it probably won't happen, but wouldn't it be interesting if our masked man ended up being Carta Issue in an artificial body instead of who it seemingly is. Would be a tremendous swerve, IMO.

Re: The Official Macross Delta Anime Thread Mk I

Well, all things considered that does seem plausible, in my opinion. Delta is set in 2067. The original series was set in around 2009 or thereabouts. IIRC Minmay was around 19 at the time, so she would be something like 77 years old as of the time of Delta. However, if you take the time spent in th...

I actually liked episode 4, it's the only one I can recall what happened from start to finish. I'd love to see an extension of the Zeon remnants against the Federation.

Re: The Official Macross Delta Anime Thread Mk I

Personally, I have found the love triangle to be low key this season, more so than in anything recent, maybe ever. Hayate hasn't shown any real interest in anyone, which makes me believe this love triangle will not be resolved. I have a theory for the series moving forward. I believe Mikumo will be ...

Re: The Official Gundam Build Fighters Try Anime Thread Mk-V

Premise might be similar but there isn't much mechanical about the dolls. The dolls are 100% mechanical and are no different from the Hoshino gunpla at the end of Gundam Build Fighters Try. ... I didn't like, however, the whole Lady Kawaguchi thing. I thought at first she was his successor, but ins...

Re: The Official Gundam Build Fighters Try Anime Thread Mk-V

Okay, I know I am late to the party but I have finally seen Gundam Build Fighters. I avoided it because I thought it was going to be something like SD Gundam, which I don't particularly care for, but was pleasantly surprised to find that I actually really liked this show. Sei and Reiji worked off ea...
