Re: The Official Macross Delta Anime Thread Mk I
I gotta say the broadcast version of Episode 1 and now Episode 2 have done a great job of making Hayate likeable. After watching the special preview episode 0.89, I was rather worried because I was struggling to find anything interesting or likable about Hayate. But now he's shown exhibiting some jo...

Re: The Official Macross Delta Mecha Thread Mk I
Liking that new gun pod design ever more and more. It's so very different from anything else in the series to date. It very much looks like a beam weapon, which makes sense since the swiveled arm guns are projectile weapons already.

Re: Is there anyway to any rationality in transformers?
You guys obviously do not like the new and unusual ideas for mek... At least in "Martian Successor Nadesico" implemented a similar idea Now that’s just not fair. I can’t speak for others, but I’ve specifically said I like the idea of transforming tanks and I’ve gone out of my way to diffe...

Re: Macross Mega Marathon
A big finish! it was great to read your thoughts going through this series again. There were a few interpretations I didn't jive with, but it was by far a really fun way to revisit the series again. Thanks for doing this!

Re: The Official Macross Delta Mecha Thread Mk I
I like how much cleaner the design of the VF-31 is compared to the VF-25 series. The two lines share many similar design motifs, but I think the VF-31 looks simpler and less busy.
Really eager to know more about that gun pod

Re: Is there anyway to any rationality in transformers?
Now, now. Be good to me. I'm such a nice boy. My exes always say so :) Besides, I still think we should find someone to draw a Macross-style transforming tank to make you happy. We've spent about the same amount of time and effort talking about it, lol And then a transforming submarine. And then a ...

Re: Is there anyway to any rationality in transformers?
In reality, transforming mecha are made because they are fun, entertaining and imaginative to young children. Hence, they sell. That's pretty much it :) In-universe, one has to write such that the fiction is at least partially able to explain why the mecha were created and how they overcome the conv...

Re: Macross Mega Marathon
Yes, I remember this was a brutal one-two punch in the feels. I also really enjoyed how the original SDF Macross has a sequence which shows Hikaru struggling with the fallout of Kakizaki's death, something that was missing from the American edit of the show back in the 80's. It was a poignant way to...

Re: Macross Mega Marathon
I think what enraged me the most is that Misa was unfortunately attracted to Kaifun because he looked so much like Riber, her dead boyfriend. I think Kaifun was also so infuriating because the very nature of the SDF Macross series spoke about the horrors of war, the tragedy and how it traumatizes pe...

Re: The Official Gundam Thunderbolt Mecha Thread Mk I
That was great! The animation is of course superb as it would be for the budget. However, I don't want to sell it short on style, because that is a big part of what makes the visuals so interesting thus far. Loving the character design, which reminds me of Amano's work in some respects. The mechanic...

Re: New Shoji Kawamori Interview - Revelations on Gundam, et
It's a really good interview that covers a lot of history. Most of the stuff has been established before, but there are some new revelations (at least to me) that were really informative. It's also a fine summary of Kawamori's work over the years. Well worth reading! Maybe I have to re-read the sect...
