Re: The obsoletion of MS-manned gun emplacements

Well, the Einrad and Twinrad are better than most of the older SFS. They have extra weapons and can fly, but they also have good defense too.

Re: TV Tropes lists ZoE's Jehuty as a super prototype, even though it isn't

I think that's the selling point of GM II. They can upgrade the old OYW-era GM to GM II at supposely cheap cost (and this carry on to GM II > GM III upgrading). On funny note, while not mecha anime, the best examples of super prototype are various creation myth. Usually the first humans were created...

I refuse (until proven) to accept that Gremory ever has male pilot, it's blasphemy. When there're only 2 ladies out of 72 and the other one is a mermaid, assign it to a man is just wrong  .

Re: TV Tropes lists ZoE's Jehuty as a super prototype, even though it isn't

IIRC, Jehuty's data was used to develope Vic Viper. So while isn't direct prototype, it does fit the broad definition of the trope.

Re: What were the Gundams from Wing, 00, and IBO?

I'm pretty sure that while we known what Astaroth Origin look like, it's never used in the manga. After beating Vual, they get most parts back but it's not complete, and then Astaroth got upgraded to Astaroth Rinascimento instead. Dantalion and Gremory, however, are likely close to their original fo...

Re: Applying the five-man band trope in a real robot anime

The trope is one of the most misuse on TV Tropes. It's kind of understandable when listing six with one being Sixth Ranger, but I've seen too many examples listing 7 or 8 characters. Although the trope is mostly associated with Super Sentai/Power Ranger, the originator is actually normal music bands...

Re: The Official Gundam Iron-Blooded Orphans Mecha Thread Mk III

There's one bit I noticed about Deinsleif. Despite its awesome penetrating power, its effect on mechanic is surprisingly low (it's possible that mobile weapon engineering of Calimity War and PD era is simply very good). Amida's Hyakuren, Barbatos LR, and Gusion RF are still functional well enough de...

Re: The Official Gundam Iron-Blooded Orphans Mecha Thread Mk III

This was mentioned to be the reason why not more than the initial batch were produced. That being said, Dantalion (the 71th) is said to developed using combat data from previous Gundam units and completed just before the end of Calamity War. So if it's really "initial batch", then said batch last t...

I don't read the manga, but heard that it's quite different from anime (certainly the wheel don't even exist in anime).

Re: Why do people overlook the commanding officer?

I don't think you understand the role of a real captain. Except what Zeonista said is come from context of Nadesico . It's what said in the show, his understanding is irrelevant. IIRC, pretty much the crews of Nadesico are there to "train" Omoikane. Of course, ultimately they have to keep crews on ...

Re: How can OZ mass-produce Virgos with Gundanium Alloy?

Actually, I think I found the answer. It's because the Mercurius and Vayeate were Super Prototypes of the Virgos, and usually in a mecha anime series, prototypes are more powerful than the mass-production models. Huh? Pardon me, but what's the purpose of this thread again? You asked about how OZ ca...

4. There are no dangerous weapons, only dangerous people.
I used to think so, until I heard stories of people die or maimed by weapon malfunction.

Yes, dangerous weapons exist. They aren't designed that way, and that's what make them dangerous.

Re: The need for prototypes to surpass the mass-production models

Well, on the not-so-super prototype in Gundam, we also have two nice examples, the V Gundam and Strike Gundam. Both have "stop-gap" water-down model (Gun EZ and Strike Dagger) because they need something to fill their rank, but the actual MP model is identical for V Gundam, and even superior for Str...

Re: The need for prototypes to surpass the mass-production models

Well...

In Votoms Steel Force video game, there's prototype of Scopedog call Spending Wolf. It's slower than Scopedog. But they really want the thing to come back from field test for data colelction, so it has thicker armor and some "luxury" like fire extinguisher.

Hmm... In the series, I thought Renato bros are jerks who trash-talk at their opponent. Now I see them as some very serious real roleplayers.

I guess Meijin want to make them a little more loosen up at playing Gunpla Battle, but by the end he see that they're having fun in their own way.

None of them are overlooked.

If you think the story focus more on the protagonist more than them, well, that's how it should be. We're watching story, not documentary.

Please give an example of someone who's truly overlooked.

I can think of some who's overshadowed by the team's ace, but can't think of one who's totally ignored.

Re: The SE Project and its fate

When I said "alternate timeline" I didn't mean it as a formal term, it's just that AFAIK the background events of the story is contradict with orthodox continuity already. Correct me if I'm wrong, but isn't Nemo is called RS-81 in TS because it was developed in UC 81? (the one in profile is an impro...
